To complete this stage is a such big challenge, considering that the cyclists already have almost 6000 km in their legs before the king´s stage starts.
You have to be really strong and experienced to be able to complete it. And it is not only strength, it is tactic as well and the right nutrition plan is essential. The rider will need to consume more than 30.000 kcal during this extreme stage.
Obviously Pierre Bischoff, Ulra-Cycling world champion 2017 and RAAM winner in 2016 had all combined and was able to win it with a new record.
Next athlete, who crossed the finish line, was Michael Knudsen. He cam 4 hours and 16 minutes after Pierre. Marcelo Florentino Soares was 2 more hours later.
Amit Samart was also strong enough and finished the stage 3 hours before stage closure.
