Red Bull Transsiberian Extreme

Rules and Regulations of Open Competitions under the code name «Cycling Race Red Bull Transsiberian Extreme 2020»

(hereinafter «Red Bull Transsiberian Extreme», «Competitions», «Race», «Event»)

Participating in the Competition, the Participant, accompanying persons, agree with the Rules & Regulations and confirm their obligations under these Regulations.

  1. Goals and objectives

    Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme is an Ultra-Marathon stage cycling race and is held for the following purposes

    • promotion of physical culture, sports and a healthy lifestyle among the population;
    • identification of the strongest athletes of this competition;
    • overcoming the distance, convergence of the different cultures, cooperation of the sports and economics representatives.
  2. Dates and venue

    Dates: June 20, 2020 to July 19, 2020 - 28 days.

    Venue: Route between Moscow, Ploshchad Revolyutsii and Vladivostok, Russkiy Island

    Distance: 9,103 km.

    Number of Stages: 15 stages.

    1. Organizer of Event is the company «Most Management» (hereinafter "Organizer").

      Organizer is responsible for organisation of Event.

  5. Participation in competitions

    To participate in the Event, you ("Participant", "Declared Participant" or "You") certify that you comply with the requirements set by the Organizer:

    1. Categories of participants

      Only "Solo" category - a single personal competition;

      Age category - persons are born in 1997 year and older.

      The number of participants is limited and can not exceed 15 (fifteen) persons.

    2. Pre-qualification for participants

      An experienced cyclist, born in 1997 and older, without medical contraindications and meets one of the following criteria, is allowed to compete:

      - finisher of the official Ultra-cycling race;

      - current/ex - professional cyclist in accordance with the data of the respective sports federations;

      - participant of Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme in the previous years.

      Each member is obliged:

      1. Take responsibility for their health and sign that;

      2. Read and to understand, and to follow the Rules&Regulations, as well as the Competition Guide, General Information and cost structure, and other regulations and documents approved by the Organizer in application with the Competitions;

      3. To be physically prepared for the competition;

      4. Have your an identity card on hand;

      5. Have a sports insurance (original) on hand with in the amount of at least 60,000.00 rubles (sixty thousand rubles) with sports risks included;

      6. Have a health certificate (original) on hand. Health certificate is the basis for your admission to the competition. Medical certificate must be stamped and signed by the doctor and medical institution. The certificate must indicate that the participant is admitted to the competition for the selected distance. The certificate must be issued no earlier than March 23, 2020. Copy of the medical certificate is accepted by the commission only upon presentation of the original. Accepted by the commission Health Certificates are not returned;

      7. Wearing of helmet dring the race is obligatory;

      8. Chinstrap has to be closed at any time and may only be opened, when standing.;

      9. To follow the Traffic Rules.

      Neither the Organizer, nor the partners of the Event are responsible if the Participant is physically or intellectually unable to perform any actions for to participate in the Event; there is no legally enforceable right to participate in this event as such. Neither the Organizer nor the partners of the Event are liable if the Participant is injured while performing actions related to the participation in the Event. The Organizer reserves the right to verify the email address provided to the Organizer by the Declared Participant and to require confirmation of the age, identity and / or other specified data at any time at its discretion. In case of any dispute Applications, containing an invalid or unreadable email address or incorrect data regarding the age and /or place of permanent residence of the Applicant, will be considered as not complying with the requirements.

  6. Submission of applications, selection of participants, participation fee, registration

    1. Submission of applications

      You can find all information about the race on the official website of the competition www.redbulltranssiberianextreme.com. Organizers are not responsible for the information presented on the other resources.

      To apply to participate in the Event, you have go to the official website www.redbulltranssiberianextreme.com and / or write a letter from your personal email address to the email address of the Event: info@most-sport.com, fill out and send the Application form.

      Applications are submitted from October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019, including both dates.

      Electronic submission of applications can be closed ahead of schedule when the maximum number of registered Race Participants is reached.

    2. Selection for the Race Participation

      The jury, approved by the Organizer, will select the applications for compliance of the above information with this Rules&Regulation.

      Selection is carried out during the entire period for submission of applications specified in this paragraph. The announcement of the selected Participants will be done from October 1, 2019 to October 31, 2019. Organizer has the right, but not an obligation, to explain the reasons for not accepting any Applicants for participation on the basis of a written request from the person who submitted the Application.

      The right to register arises from the moment this Selection.

      Registration is executed after receipt of participation fee from the Applicant.

    3. Registration Fee

      Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme includes event planning and logistics, hotels with half-board, provided car for each team, food supply during the stages, medical and physiotherapy assistance, bikes maintenance.

      Registration is open from 00:01hrs of November 1, 2019 to 23:59hrs of March 23, 2020 (Moscow time), in case of Application approval for participation in the Event.

      Fee for participation is EUR 22,500, not including VAT.

      In case if the first part of Participation Fee is paid untill January 01, 2020 and second part is paid untill March 1, 2020 - the full amount of Participation Fee is reduced for 20%.

      Registration shall be interpreted like as valid only after payment of Fee.

      The participation Fee is paid by the Participant by bank transfer to the Organizer’s current account on the basis of the invoice received from the Organize and in accordance with the date specified in the corresponding account. In any case 50% of the Fee must be paid by the Participant before January 31, 2020.

      Payment at the venue is not possible.

      Particicpation Fee will be return in case if participation is canceled by Participant before March 23, 2020.

  7. Order of traffic for cyclistes and following vehicles

    All participants are obliged to follow the Traffic Rules of Russian Federation on the road.

    Support cars will be in order of ranking.

    Order of following teams supporting cars during current stage will be determined according this ranking, if riders riding in same bunch.

    Cars № 1 and 2 in the race are race jury and doctor’s cars.

    Order of teams supporting cars for stage 1 determined by race jury by drawing lots.

    The order of the cars can be adjusted during the race to optimize support..

  8. Start procedure

    Bikers must be at start line minimum 30 min. prior the start in accordance with Stages Info (Table 1).

    Start of each stage is a mass-start in the same time for all Participants of the race.

    Rising of green flag and whistle means race start.

  9. Official route

    Each biker must follow the instructions of the official Race route book. The route descriptions and maps count for the official documentation of the route. In case of doubt map is valid prior the text.

    In case if Participant, for whatever reason, misses the route, he may be brought back to the point he was leaving the route, in order to continue the correct road again on his own.

    Finish and start locations for each stage may vary during the race and will be announced on time before each stage.

  10. On the route:

    Riders have to use right lane

    Support from following/support car only from right side of the car (left side of rider)

    Riders may only leave route when driving to sleeping places or in emergency cases

    The rider may not be pushed and held by persons from driving car or by the car (exception: short start push of rider at a restart after break or medical assistance from race Doctor’s or Mechanic driving car.

    In case of two or more riders driving together, the support cars need to keep a distance to the group (2 riders considering as a group). All other cars need to drive with minimum 100 m distance to allow other cars to overtake without danger. Traffic jams have to be avoided. All following support cars need to keep 100 m distance from car in front.

    Riders must not drive behind a car and benefit from wind shadow (drafting).

    Riders may not slipstream behind their supporting car, nor any other car.

    Teams supporting cars must always follow their riders. The rider must never stay alone!

    When driving in bunch, 1st car is the car of the race leader. Any way support cars may change positions to support bikers.

    Wearing of helmet is obligatory. Chinstrap has to be closed at any time and may only be opened, when standing.

    Ridera are obliged to follow Traffic Rules unexceptionally. At the red traffic light or the closing of the railway track crossing, Riders must stop and wait for the green traffic light and/or the opening of railway track crossing.

    In case of danger, the race may be finished or interrupted by the Organiser and Race Jury at any time.

  11. Qualifying period / time of competitive restriction

    Main importance for fixing time limits is the recovery time before the next stage starts.

    If rider misses 3 times the time limits he disqualifies.

    Please see the stage plan/time limits to understand also the minimum average speed needed to stay within the race and guarantee minimum rest/recovery time.

    Race Jury will fix the finishing time limit for each stage; these may vary during the race depending on weather conditions, road surface conditions or other unpredictable circumstances.

    Organizer will adjust the start times of the next stage, if circumstances require it. Usually this will be as planned in the timetable. Any way Organizer and Race Jury may arrange changes.

    To guarantee that as many as possible riders reach the finish line in Vladivostok, penalty time will be calculated for kilometres not driven. For calculation of the penalty time the average km/h of the stage finisher is the basis. A participant, who got once a penalty time or did not complete a stage, cannot become the overall GC winner or class GC winner.

    After 3 times interruption of stages or 3 times finished out of time limit, rider disqualifies. When a biker is disqualified at any stage before Irkutsk he/she has to drop out of the race and take a flight home from the next city!

    Bikers being disqualified after Irkutsk may stay in the group until Vladivostok! Disqualified bikers are not allowed to bike in the race! They may drive in the car and accompany the race, but are not permitted to bike! In case they want to drive ahead to stay in a hotel, they need to cover the costs of the hotel for all their team including drivers!

  12. Bicycle definition and technology

    1. Bikes

      Handlebar extension/Aero bars for Time Trial Races are permitted.

      Disc brakes are allowed.

      Cross bike tires (without spikes) are allowed (for bad parts with ongoing road construction)Time trial bikes are not allowed!

    2. Using of handlebar extensions during riding in the bunch with more than 5 riders

      Strictly prohibited to use handlebar extension during riding in a bunch of more than 5 riders.

      Jury sanctions:
      1st offence – warning
      2nd – and more offences - time penalty + 20 min.to finishing time per each offence
    3. Drafting / leading

      Drafting is allowed for all race participants categories..

  13. Penalties

    Organiser and Race Jury have the right to announce warnings, fees, time penalties and disqualifications.

    1 warning – no consequences
    2 warnings – time penalty fixed by the jury
    3 warnings – disqualification from the race.

    1. Reasons for warnings

      Unfair behaviour towards other participants and all race participants

      Riding without helmet even briefly - Start refused

      Sheltering behind car

      Small route cuttings

      Not following orders of officials/police/administrations

      Disregarding the minimum distance in between the teams (except when overtaking)

    2. Disqualification

      Route cutting, manipulate race bike, major disregarding of officials.

      Missing a checkpoint

      Disregarding official/legal regulations (e.g.: music from pace car)

      Consumption of alcohol by the athletes

      Refusing of doping tests before, during or after the race.

      Driving in car in order to avoid a race part to bike.

      Holding on supporting cars or any other car (briefly/for a long time)

      Refusing of a sleeping pause, when ordered by the race management centre.

      Extreme bad behaviour of crew or driver towards other teams or traffic of high risk.

      Mobbing or chivvying of other racers

      Bad behaviour of negative influence to the overall race

      Lack of declaration of indemnity of an athlete or supporter

      Consumption of 2 warnings

      Misuse of tracking instruments

  14. Escalation

    In case of exceptional and repeated behaviour, the organizer committee can order any team member to leave the group and take a flight back home at closest airport on the route.

  15. Protests

    Protests in oral form are possible.

    All decisions after protest in oral form, must be decided by race jury at stage finish in 15 min after last rider, cross finishing line.

  16. General Classification, Winner

    1. Time measurement

      Manual measurement will be done at 1 sec.

      Total time of all stages will be added and ranked.

      Each participant is responsible himself to cross finishing line on/with his bike for the measurement and initiate time taking.

      GPS tracking/control of every participant will be set as well.

      Live tracking can be followed via Internet and APP on iPhone and Android

    2. Official race time

      The official race time measures the time from each stage place.

      Time zone is start time up to finish line.

    3. Evaluation of times

      Daily evaluation – stage evaluation

      Stage results counting by adding to General Classification

    4. General Classification

      Major G.C. – riders covering whole distance.

      Minor G.C. – riders abandoning 1-2 times.

      *Order of riders in Minor G.C.:
      1.Riders, abandoned once.
      2.Riders, abandoned twice.
      3.Riders, abandoned three times disqualified from the race.

      *If two and more riders abandon during same stage highest ranking in stage classification get rider, who covered longest distance at current stage.

  17. Stage categories and rates

    Short (1 day) – 6 stages – rate 1
    Medium (1 day, 1 night) – 7 stages – rate 1,5
    Long (2 days/2 nights) – 2 stages – rate 2

    1. Time calculation for stage abandoned riders

      Km remaining to stage finish divide into average speed according General Classification after previous stage and increase by stage grade. Add this time to time from the start of the stage to abandoning.

    2. Finishing time limits / minimum speed

      See stage plan for minimum recovery time at each stage required.

    3. GPS Tracking

      The race will be tracked with GPS technology. The GPS sender needs to be switched on and needs be functional at all time. In case of non-functioning the race management center needs to be informed. In case the GPS tracker is in the pace car, this must be present at the time stations.

  18. Prices

    Race trophy for winners, runners-up and finishers.

  19. Award ceremony

    Award ceremony will be organized after the race. Time and place will be announced at the finish location. All finishers have to participate at the award ceremony.

  20. Unpredictable occasions / events

    In case of emergency, each team may use an alternative route, which supports the race. In case of emergencies, the team must return to the official route as soon as possible.

    In case the biker or the crew face an unpredictable situation (closed roads, extreme weather, road construction, danger, “redirections or detours”), Organizer and Race Jury needs to be informed.

    In extreme situations, the race may be neutralized and restarted or accounted only to a specific point of the route. The race management may take specific parts of the route out of the total time taking, if this is necessary due to unpredictable extreme situations.

    In case the route has to be changed due to unpredictable situations, the period of rest may be adjusted. The period of rest calculates according the average speed.

  21. Waste

    Waste disposal must never happen in nature.

  22. Support / following cars

    In case of stage races pace cars are not driving in groups behind the bikers. In case a biker is 2 minutes ahead of the rest of the bikers, his support car needs to close up. Decisions about pace cars to close up to the biker are taken by the race management and ordered by race radio. The race management also decides about the timing, when the cars are allowed to close up. The pace cars are driving in order as the start numbers of the bikers of group of 5 to 10 biker’s maximum.

  23. First aid

    Organizer will support with doctors during the race. Small injuries the support team of each biker will take care. Contacts to local hospitals, local first aid institutions and police are available in the road book.

  24. Cancellation of the event

    In case the event has is cancelled due to unpredictable reasons, Organizer may keep 25% of the registration fee.

  25. Total abortion of the event

    In case of total interruption due to unpredictable reason in the race, Organizer will coordinate transportation of people and equipment back to Moscow. Registration fee will not be returned.

  26. A team gives up

    In case a team decides to give up and travel back home, Organizer will support for travel and transportation. Costs in any case are to be covered by the team.

  27. Change of route or route stages

    Organizer has the right to change the program. All official changes, news and messages will be available on www.redbulltranssiberianextreme.com. Organizer and/or Race Jury will announce changes and news at occasion of the team meeting prior the start and when handing over the starter packages. The final handover of the road book is the final definitive route.

  28. Service

    Organizer will provide a team of mechanics also equipped with spare parts, 1 supporting neutral vehicle to support the riders as backup. Each team has to take care of its own equipment. Bicycle shops are available on the route, but eventual purchasing of spare parts needs to be planned early enough before coming to the larger cities on the road.

  29. Trafic Rules

    Road traffic regulations must be followed without exceptions at in all cases and along the entire route. Each participant starts at own risk.

    Organizer does not take any liabilities before, during or after the race, neither for accidents of own fault or through third parties.

    Any Instractions of Race Jury and Organizer have to be followed and at all times in all situations.

    Participants, who are undisciplined and who disregard the rules may be taken out of the race and their result may be not considered in the overall total result.

    Organizer is not liable for eventual damages on bike tires or tires of the support busses.

  30. Cancellation

    If Participant has to cancel for whatever reason, he has no right to request a refund of his participation fee. We recommend to have an insurance in case o cancellation. Please be aware of the insurance conditions in this case.

    If the cancellation is done before March 23, 2020, the registration fee will be refunded.

  31. Change of Rules

    Organizer may at any time change the Rules, if the situation requires it for whatever security reason. This exception is also valid, if a Rider finds a lack or a mistake in the Rules.

  32. Sponsors

    Organizer may request, that the name and logo of a sponsor have to be placed on the cars of the Participant. Names or logos of tobacco products, alcohol, energy drinks and soft drinks must not be placed on clothes, equipment or cars of the participants. Organizer has the right to request to cover names or logos of sponsors, in case they are not adequate. This may also happen during the race.

  33. Mobile phones and radio equipment

    Each team will have at least 1 local mobile phone provided by the organizer, which are always available and reachable during the race. Only rider’s crew may use mobile phone during racing.
    To cover eventual lack of mobile phone availability, radio equipment (car to car) will be provided.

  34. Obligation to inform

    The crew/team must inform the organizer immediately in following situations and at following occasions:

    Change of supporters, change of crew members, if they were not known at start

    Closed roads, accidents, danger or any other sort of special occasions/events/situations

    Change of following car

    Not functioning GPS track, early finishing of the race

    In case of road accidents

    Other situation should be known to the oganizer for the purpose of properly conducting the Event, preserving the life and health of all persons participating in the race, involved in organisation of the race, as well as other duties of the Organizer including his responsibilities to partners, sponsors of the Event.

  35. Liabilities, legal process

    Participant takes part at Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme at own risk and own responsibility. The organizer does not take any liability of any kind of damages of persons or damages or losses of property. Participants may not claim any liability towards the organizer whatsoever. Liability insurance is subject and responsibility of each participant. By registering to the Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme each participant accepts the exclusion of any liability, which liberates the organizer and his supporting personal of any liability, as far as this is legally possible and according legal requirements.

  36. Main principals of the Event

    Mistakes, also against the rules may happen and are human.

    Knowingly cheating is different!

    Fairness at every occasion and vis à vis other participants, crew members and officials is a major principal rule.

    The Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme is a high-class sports event, in which adventure and experience should be as important as the victory.

    The sport approach and fairness, team spirit, the fair treating of each other, the own responsibility are major principles of this unique RBTSE sports event.

    All rules and regulations are clearly defined and are available to all participants and crew.

  37. Photo and Video Recording

    The teams shall be allowed to freely take photographs and capture on video throughout the race and post the materials on social media and other resources. It is not allowed to have personal filming crews.

    Copyrights to the entire photo and video footage captured during the race shall belong to “Red Bull (RUS)” LLC (hereinafter – “Compagny Red Bull”). The materials will be posted on the site www.redbullcontentpool.com.

  38. Safety and Medical Support

    Medical assistance shall be rendered in accordance with Order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation dated 01.03.2016 No. 134н Concerning the Procedure for Arranging the Provision of Medical Care to Persons Involved with Physical Training and Sports (Including in the Preparation and Carrying out Physical Training Activities and Sports Events), Including the Procedure for Medical Examination of Persons Wishing to Undergo Sports Training, Do Physical Culture and Sports in Organizations and/or Reach the Qualifying Standards (Tests) of the All-Russian Physical Training and Sports Complex “Ready For Labour And Defense”.

    The medical care shall be provided by Emergency medical service and a sports physician.

    The safety of the Competition shall be ensured by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

  39. Force Majeure Circumstances

    This Rules&Regulation may be amended or terminated by the Organizer on an ex parte basis in case of force majeure circumstances subject to weather and other force majeure circumstances. If that is the case, no participation shall be returned.

  40. Information Acquisition and Data Protection

    In this article, the term “Personal Data” shall mean all the data concerning you, namely: surname, name, patronymic, contact details, age, gender, feedback on the Event, photos and other data either expressly or by implication referring to your personality. The Organizer shall have control over your Personal Data provided during the Event and reserve the rights to usage and publication of data in accordance with these Rules.

    It is hereby acknowledged that the Personal Data you provide in connection with participation in the Event are true and factually accurate. Personal Data shall be provided on a voluntary basis, however, you must provide all the required Personal Data to be able to participate in the Event.

    By accepting these Rules&Regulations, you agree that Organizer and/or Company Red Bull may process your Personal Data on their own or by means of external data operators processing data for and on behalf of the Organizer and/or Company Red Bull. Personal Data shall be processed on the basis of entry into an agreement by way of Organiser’s sending a public offer (proposal) by placing information on the Site and accepting the offer (acceptance) by a consumer by forwarding a request for participation in the Event. Your Personal Data will be used for the following purposes:

    in support of the Event, for example, for holding the Event and communication with the winners for award ceremony;
    for combining information obtained during promotional events with information obtained from other sources, for example, information provided by you to us earlier; information we have collected about you automatically (for example, using cookies); and information we received from other sources (for example, from social media). We may use this information and compiled information to learn more about your preferences as a client, for enriching your user experience on our sites, and for providing you with information, content and offers pursuant to your needs.

    In the cases of transfer by Organizer of Personal Data to an external data operator in relation to the Event, Organiser shall transfer only the Personal Data required by the external data operator for performing its tasks in relation to the Event. Since Company Red Bull and its affiliates carry out their activities throughout the world, they may transfer your Personal Data to other countries providing the same level of data protection accepted in the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation. When implementing such data transfer, Organizer or Company Red Bull ensures its holding in accordance with the contractual and other measures for information protection. When providing us with information, you hereby give your consent to storage, processing and/or transmission of data within other countries, to or from such countries, including those that are not your country of residence.

    Organizer, its affiliates and authorized data operators shall process your Personal Data in a secure place and take reasonable care for protecting Personal Data in the manner prescribed by law.
    Organizer does not intentionally acquire information from persons under the age specified in the qualification requirements for the Event.

    Organizer, Company Red Bull and their data operators may contact you regarding the Event by email, telephone or by other means.

    Under the current legislation, you may request modifications and/or deletion of your Personal Data or withdraw your consent to your Personal Data processing.

    Under the current legislation of the Russian Federation, you may also at any time request information about the Personal Data Organizer stores in relation to you and raise an objection regarding their processing.

  41. Obligations and Guarantees

    Organizer undertakes to make reasonable efforts to provide the appropriate services by means of hardware and software services for the Event, and shall not be liable for: late, lost, untimely, damaged, misaddressed, incomplete or illegible requests; for malfunction, failure, delays or interruptions in operation of telephone, electronic communication facilities, hardware or software products, network, the Internet; for transmission errors; for unsuccessful attempts to deliver notification of award; for losses incurred by any person who submits a request or attempts to submit a request and/or participate in the Competitions, if the request has been lost, not accepted, incorrectly processed or is not advantageous.

    Organizer shall be liable pursuant to the legislation of the Russian Federation: (a) for damages resulting from harm to life and/or health; (b) with intent; (c) in case of gross negligence, if an Eligible Participant is a consumer, under the current law on consumers' rights protection; and/or (d) in case of violation by the Provider of legal and regulatory framework regarding liability for product quality and safety (as applicable).

    Without prejudice to the foregoing, the Provider shall be liable for slight negligence only in case of violation of a substantial contractual obligation under these Regulations. In such cases, liability will be limited to the typical and foreseeable damage; otherwise, Organizer shall not be liable for slight negligence.

    Organizer and Company Red Bull shall in no way be responsible to you for loss of income, lost profits, loss of goodwill, loss of data, loss of opportunities (in each case, directly or indirectly) and any indirect or consequential damages or losses incurred by you due to your participation in the Event.

    Organizer shall under no circumstances be liable for failure to fulfil or untimely fulfillment of its obligations in accordance with these Rules&Regulations arising as a result of or in connection with, directly or indirectly, the circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Provider, including, without limiting to, industrial actions, work stoppages, accidents, natural disasters, as well as a failure, loss or breakdown of engineering infrastructure, communication facilities or information technology services (software or equipment).

    As a condition of participation in the Event and/or receiving the prize, the person shall sign legal documentation in the form determined by the Organizer, by prizes supplier and/or partners of the Event at their own sole discretion, including, but not limited to, exemption from liability for copyright infringement and a form of guarantee of damages exemption. The Organizer shall be entitled to require a winner to submit other documents necessary for the prize provision in accordance with the current legislation of the Russian Federation.

    These Rules&Regulations shall be governed by the laws of the Russian Federation. All disputes can be resolved exclusively in the courts of Moscow, Russia.

  42. The Regulation

    may be changed during the preparation of the project. The final version along with the final contract will be presented to participants prior to the start of the competition.

This Regulation is an official invitation to the competition.

  • Order of traffic for cyclistes and following vehicles

    All participants are obliged to follow the Traffic Rules of Russian Federation on the road.

    Support cars will be in order of ranking.

    Order of following teams supporting cars during current stage will be determined according this ranking, if riders riding in same bunch.

    Cars № 1 and 2 in the race are race jury and doctor’s cars.

    Order of teams supporting cars for stage 1 determined by race jury by drawing lots.

    The order of the cars can be adjusted during the race to optimize support..

  • Start procedure

    Bikers must be at start line minimum 30 min. prior the start in accordance with Stages Info (Table 1).

    Start of each stage is a mass-start in the same time for all Participants of the race.

    Rising of green flag and whistle means race start.

  • Official route

    Each biker must follow the instructions of the official Race route book. The route descriptions and maps count for the official documentation of the route. In case of doubt map is valid prior the text.

    In case if Participant, for whatever reason, misses the route, he may be brought back to the point he was leaving the route, in order to continue the correct road again on his own.

    Finish and start locations for each stage may vary during the race and will be announced on time before each stage.

  • On the route:

    Riders have to use right lane

    Support from following/support car only from right side of the car (left side of rider)

    Riders may only leave route when driving to sleeping places or in emergency cases

    The rider may not be pushed and held by persons from driving car or by the car (exception: short start push of rider at a restart after break or medical assistance from race Doctor’s or Mechanic driving car.

    In case of two or more riders driving together, the support cars need to keep a distance to the group (2 riders considering as a group). All other cars need to drive with minimum 100 m distance to allow other cars to overtake without danger. Traffic jams have to be avoided. All following support cars need to keep 100 m distance from car in front.

    Riders must not drive behind a car and benefit from wind shadow (drafting).

    Riders may not slipstream behind their supporting car, nor any other car.

    Teams supporting cars must always follow their riders. The rider must never stay alone!

    When driving in bunch, 1st car is the car of the race leader. Any way support cars may change positions to support bikers.

    Wearing of helmet is obligatory. Chinstrap has to be closed at any time and may only be opened, when standing.

    Ridera are obliged to follow Traffic Rules unexceptionally. At the red traffic light or the closing of the railway track crossing, Riders must stop and wait for the green traffic light and/or the opening of railway track crossing.

    In case of danger, the race may be finished or interrupted by the Organiser and Race Jury at any time.

  • Qualifying period / time of competitive restriction

    Main importance for fixing time limits is the recovery time before the next stage starts.

    If rider misses 3 times the time limits he disqualifies.

    Please see the stage plan/time limits to understand also the minimum average speed needed to stay within the race and guarantee minimum rest/recovery time.

    Race Jury will fix the finishing time limit for each stage; these may vary during the race depending on weather conditions, road surface conditions or other unpredictable circumstances.

    Organizer will adjust the start times of the next stage, if circumstances require it. Usually this will be as planned in the timetable. Any way Organizer and Race Jury may arrange changes.

    To guarantee that as many as possible riders reach the finish line in Vladivostok, penalty time will be calculated for kilometres not driven. For calculation of the penalty time the average km/h of the stage finisher is the basis. A participant, who got once a penalty time or did not complete a stage, cannot become the overall GC winner or class GC winner.

    After 3 times interruption of stages or 3 times finished out of time limit, rider disqualifies. When a biker is disqualified at any stage before Irkutsk he/she has to drop out of the race and take a flight home from the next city!

    Bikers being disqualified after Irkutsk may stay in the group until Vladivostok! Disqualified bikers are not allowed to bike in the race! They may drive in the car and accompany the race, but are not permitted to bike! In case they want to drive ahead to stay in a hotel, they need to cover the costs of the hotel for all their team including drivers!

  • Bicycle definition and technology

    1. Bikes

      Handlebar extension/Aero bars for Time Trial Races are permitted.

      Disc brakes are allowed.

      Cross bike tires (without spikes) are allowed (for bad parts with ongoing road construction)Time trial bikes are not allowed!

    2. Using of handlebar extensions during riding in the bunch with more than 5 riders

      Strictly prohibited to use handlebar extension during riding in a bunch of more than 5 riders.

      Jury sanctions:
      1st offence – warning
      2nd – and more offences - time penalty + 20 min.to finishing time per each offence
    3. Drafting / leading

      Drafting is allowed for all race participants categories..

  • Penalties

    Organiser and Race Jury have the right to announce warnings, fees, time penalties and disqualifications.

    1 warning – no consequences
    2 warnings – time penalty fixed by the jury
    3 warnings – disqualification from the race.

    1. Reasons for warnings

      Unfair behaviour towards other participants and all race participants

      Riding without helmet even briefly - Start refused

      Sheltering behind car

      Small route cuttings

      Not following orders of officials/police/administrations

      Disregarding the minimum distance in between the teams (except when overtaking)

    2. Disqualification

      Route cutting, manipulate race bike, major disregarding of officials.

      Missing a checkpoint

      Disregarding official/legal regulations (e.g.: music from pace car)

      Consumption of alcohol by the athletes

      Refusing of doping tests before, during or after the race.

      Driving in car in order to avoid a race part to bike.

      Holding on supporting cars or any other car (briefly/for a long time)

      Refusing of a sleeping pause, when ordered by the race management centre.

      Extreme bad behaviour of crew or driver towards other teams or traffic of high risk.

      Mobbing or chivvying of other racers

      Bad behaviour of negative influence to the overall race

      Lack of declaration of indemnity of an athlete or supporter

      Consumption of 2 warnings

      Misuse of tracking instruments

  • Escalation

    In case of exceptional and repeated behaviour, the organizer committee can order any team member to leave the group and take a flight back home at closest airport on the route.

  • Protests

    Protests in oral form are possible.

    All decisions after protest in oral form, must be decided by race jury at stage finish in 15 min after last rider, cross finishing line.

  • General Classification, Winner

    1. Time measurement

      Manual measurement will be done at 1 sec.

      Total time of all stages will be added and ranked.

      Each participant is responsible himself to cross finishing line on/with his bike for the measurement and initiate time taking.

      GPS tracking/control of every participant will be set as well.

      Live tracking can be followed via Internet and APP on iPhone and Android

    2. Official race time

      The official race time measures the time from each stage place.

      Time zone is start time up to finish line.

    3. Evaluation of times

      Daily evaluation – stage evaluation

      Stage results counting by adding to General Classification

    4. General Classification

      Major G.C. – riders covering whole distance.

      Minor G.C. – riders abandoning 1-2 times.

      *Order of riders in Minor G.C.:
      1.Riders, abandoned once.
      2.Riders, abandoned twice.
      3.Riders, abandoned three times disqualified from the race.

      *If two and more riders abandon during same stage highest ranking in stage classification get rider, who covered longest distance at current stage.

  • Stage categories and rates

    Short (1 day) – 6 stages – rate 1
    Medium (1 day, 1 night) – 7 stages – rate 1,5
    Long (2 days/2 nights) – 2 stages – rate 2

    1. Time calculation for stage abandoned riders

      Km remaining to stage finish divide into average speed according General Classification after previous stage and increase by stage grade. Add this time to time from the start of the stage to abandoning.

    2. Finishing time limits / minimum speed

      See stage plan for minimum recovery time at each stage required.

    3. GPS Tracking

      The race will be tracked with GPS technology. The GPS sender needs to be switched on and needs be functional at all time. In case of non-functioning the race management center needs to be informed. In case the GPS tracker is in the pace car, this must be present at the time stations.

  • Prices

    Race trophy for winners, runners-up and finishers.

  • Award ceremony

    Award ceremony will be organized after the race. Time and place will be announced at the finish location. All finishers have to participate at the award ceremony.

  • Unpredictable occasions / events

    In case of emergency, each team may use an alternative route, which supports the race. In case of emergencies, the team must return to the official route as soon as possible.

    In case the biker or the crew face an unpredictable situation (closed roads, extreme weather, road construction, danger, “redirections or detours”), Organizer and Race Jury needs to be informed.

    In extreme situations, the race may be neutralized and restarted or accounted only to a specific point of the route. The race management may take specific parts of the route out of the total time taking, if this is necessary due to unpredictable extreme situations.

    In case the route has to be changed due to unpredictable situations, the period of rest may be adjusted. The period of rest calculates according the average speed.

  • Waste

    Waste disposal must never happen in nature.

  • Support / following cars

    In case of stage races pace cars are not driving in groups behind the bikers. In case a biker is 2 minutes ahead of the rest of the bikers, his support car needs to close up. Decisions about pace cars to close up to the biker are taken by the race management and ordered by race radio. The race management also decides about the timing, when the cars are allowed to close up. The pace cars are driving in order as the start numbers of the bikers of group of 5 to 10 biker’s maximum.

  • First aid

    Organizer will support with doctors during the race. Small injuries the support team of each biker will take care. Contacts to local hospitals, local first aid institutions and police are available in the road book.

  • Cancellation of the event

    In case the event has is cancelled due to unpredictable reasons, Organizer may keep 25% of the registration fee.

  • Total abortion of the event

    In case of total interruption due to unpredictable reason in the race, Organizer will coordinate transportation of people and equipment back to Moscow. Registration fee will not be returned.

  • A team gives up

    In case a team decides to give up and travel back home, Organizer will support for travel and transportation. Costs in any case are to be covered by the team.

  • Change of route or route stages

    Organizer has the right to change the program. All official changes, news and messages will be available on www.redbulltranssiberianextreme.com. Organizer and/or Race Jury will announce changes and news at occasion of the team meeting prior the start and when handing over the starter packages. The final handover of the road book is the final definitive route.

  • Service

    Organizer will provide a team of mechanics also equipped with spare parts, 1 supporting neutral vehicle to support the riders as backup. Each team has to take care of its own equipment. Bicycle shops are available on the route, but eventual purchasing of spare parts needs to be planned early enough before coming to the larger cities on the road.

  • Trafic Rules

    Road traffic regulations must be followed without exceptions at in all cases and along the entire route. Each participant starts at own risk.

    Organizer does not take any liabilities before, during or after the race, neither for accidents of own fault or through third parties.

    Any Instractions of Race Jury and Organizer have to be followed and at all times in all situations.

    Participants, who are undisciplined and who disregard the rules may be taken out of the race and their result may be not considered in the overall total result.

    Organizer is not liable for eventual damages on bike tires or tires of the support busses.

  • Cancellation

    If Participant has to cancel for whatever reason, he has no right to request a refund of his participation fee. We recommend to have an insurance in case o cancellation. Please be aware of the insurance conditions in this case.

    If the cancellation is done before March 23, 2020, the registration fee will be refunded.

  • Change of Rules

    Organizer may at any time change the Rules, if the situation requires it for whatever security reason. This exception is also valid, if a Rider finds a lack or a mistake in the Rules.

  • Sponsors

    Organizer may request, that the name and logo of a sponsor have to be placed on the cars of the Participant. Names or logos of tobacco products, alcohol, energy drinks and soft drinks must not be placed on clothes, equipment or cars of the participants. Organizer has the right to request to cover names or logos of sponsors, in case they are not adequate. This may also happen during the race.

  • Mobile phones and radio equipment

    Each team will have at least 1 local mobile phone provided by the organizer, which are always available and reachable during the race. Only rider’s crew may use mobile phone during racing.
    To cover eventual lack of mobile phone availability, radio equipment (car to car) will be provided.

  • Obligation to inform

    The crew/team must inform the organizer immediately in following situations and at following occasions:

    Change of supporters, change of crew members, if they were not known at start

    Closed roads, accidents, danger or any other sort of special occasions/events/situations

    Change of following car

    Not functioning GPS track, early finishing of the race

    In case of road accidents

    Other situation should be known to the oganizer for the purpose of properly conducting the Event, preserving the life and health of all persons participating in the race, involved in organisation of the race, as well as other duties of the Organizer including his responsibilities to partners, sponsors of the Event.

  • Liabilities, legal process

    Participant takes part at Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme at own risk and own responsibility. The organizer does not take any liability of any kind of damages of persons or damages or losses of property. Participants may not claim any liability towards the organizer whatsoever. Liability insurance is subject and responsibility of each participant. By registering to the Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme each participant accepts the exclusion of any liability, which liberates the organizer and his supporting personal of any liability, as far as this is legally possible and according legal requirements.

  • Main principals of the Event

    Mistakes, also against the rules may happen and are human.

    Knowingly cheating is different!

    Fairness at every occasion and vis à vis other participants, crew members and officials is a major principal rule.

    The Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme is a high-class sports event, in which adventure and experience should be as important as the victory.

    The sport approach and fairness, team spirit, the fair treating of each other, the own responsibility are major principles of this unique RBTSE sports event.

    All rules and regulations are clearly defined and are available to all participants and crew.

  • Photo and Video Recording

    The teams shall be allowed to freely take photographs and capture on video throughout the race and post the materials on social media and other resources. It is not allowed to have personal filming crews.

    Copyrights to the entire photo and video footage captured during the race shall belong to “Red Bull (RUS)” LLC (hereinafter – “Compagny Red Bull”). The materials will be posted on the site www.redbullcontentpool.com.

  • Safety and Medical Support

    Medical assistance shall be rendered in accordance with Order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation dated 01.03.2016 No. 134н Concerning the Procedure for Arranging the Provision of Medical Care to Persons Involved with Physical Training and Sports (Including in the Preparation and Carrying out Physical Training Activities and Sports Events), Including the Procedure for Medical Examination of Persons Wishing to Undergo Sports Training, Do Physical Culture and Sports in Organizations and/or Reach the Qualifying Standards (Tests) of the All-Russian Physical Training and Sports Complex “Ready For Labour And Defense”.

    The medical care shall be provided by Emergency medical service and a sports physician.

    The safety of the Competition shall be ensured by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

  • Force Majeure Circumstances

    This Rules&Regulation may be amended or terminated by the Organizer on an ex parte basis in case of force majeure circumstances subject to weather and other force majeure circumstances. If that is the case, no participation shall be returned.

  • Information Acquisition and Data Protection

    In this article, the term “Personal Data” shall mean all the data concerning you, namely: surname, name, patronymic, contact details, age, gender, feedback on the Event, photos and other data either expressly or by implication referring to your personality. The Organizer shall have control over your Personal Data provided during the Event and reserve the rights to usage and publication of data in accordance with these Rules.

    It is hereby acknowledged that the Personal Data you provide in connection with participation in the Event are true and factually accurate. Personal Data shall be provided on a voluntary basis, however, you must provide all the required Personal Data to be able to participate in the Event.

    By accepting these Rules&Regulations, you agree that Organizer and/or Company Red Bull may process your Personal Data on their own or by means of external data operators processing data for and on behalf of the Organizer and/or Company Red Bull. Personal Data shall be processed on the basis of entry into an agreement by way of Organiser’s sending a public offer (proposal) by placing information on the Site and accepting the offer (acceptance) by a consumer by forwarding a request for participation in the Event. Your Personal Data will be used for the following purposes:

    in support of the Event, for example, for holding the Event and communication with the winners for award ceremony;
    for combining information obtained during promotional events with information obtained from other sources, for example, information provided by you to us earlier; information we have collected about you automatically (for example, using cookies); and information we received from other sources (for example, from social media). We may use this information and compiled information to learn more about your preferences as a client, for enriching your user experience on our sites, and for providing you with information, content and offers pursuant to your needs.

    In the cases of transfer by Organizer of Personal Data to an external data operator in relation to the Event, Organiser shall transfer only the Personal Data required by the external data operator for performing its tasks in relation to the Event. Since Company Red Bull and its affiliates carry out their activities throughout the world, they may transfer your Personal Data to other countries providing the same level of data protection accepted in the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation. When implementing such data transfer, Organizer or Company Red Bull ensures its holding in accordance with the contractual and other measures for information protection. When providing us with information, you hereby give your consent to storage, processing and/or transmission of data within other countries, to or from such countries, including those that are not your country of residence.

    Organizer, its affiliates and authorized data operators shall process your Personal Data in a secure place and take reasonable care for protecting Personal Data in the manner prescribed by law.
    Organizer does not intentionally acquire information from persons under the age specified in the qualification requirements for the Event.

    Organizer, Company Red Bull and their data operators may contact you regarding the Event by email, telephone or by other means.

    Under the current legislation, you may request modifications and/or deletion of your Personal Data or withdraw your consent to your Personal Data processing.

    Under the current legislation of the Russian Federation, you may also at any time request information about the Personal Data Organizer stores in relation to you and raise an objection regarding their processing.
